Which web design fonts?

When learning the fine art of web design it is only natural to experiment with all the options available to you, one of which being fonts. You find a really interesting font on your computer and your content looks great using it on your computer, but wait…

If you set your text to a font that isn’t installed on the computer that is viewing your website it will be displayed in the default font, which is Time New Roman. So if somebody viewing your site half way across the world, or in the next town doesn't have the font you specify all your text will be displayed in Times New Roman, which is the default font.

To avoid this happening use the 6 standard web design fonts, which are..

Arial, Helvetica
Times New Roman
Courier New
Georgia
Verdana
Geneva

Every computer has these fonts and using them will ensure your web site is displayed how you intended it to be.
