Is your website bleeding?

Web design is driven by new technologies and techniques, which allow websites to achieve new things never thought possible. A bleeding web site uses the latest cutting edge technologies so much so that it is bleeding, meaning using the latest technologies for the sake of it.

The point of these new web design technologies is to achieve something new, not just using it because it is there. Using them when you don't need to detracts from the main aim of the site and lowers the value of your site to visitors.

How to stop your website bleeding

If you think your website is bleeding you need to re-evaluate it. Does that Flash movie [Define] need to be on every page? Did you really need to spend a week working out how to use Google's dynamic maps API to show the location of your company, when you could have just linked to Googles dynamic maps in minutes?

To avoid your website bleeding to death set the aim of your website, then work out how to achieve it, then work out what technologies you need to use to reach that goal. Don't just use them for the sake of it, because it will more then likely make your site harder to use.

We are not saying don't use the latest technologies; just use them for what they were designed for.
